I met my ex when I was twenty-one years old during my first days of graduate school. We were split into small groups or teams of about twenty-five and he was in that cohort. He was the second person I dated from that group. (I think I dated three total). That’s not a good idea.
Anyway, I lived in an apartment a few miles from campus. It just happened that another student and her partner (now wife) lived next door to me. Because I went to school in a very small college town, there wasn’t much to do to pass the time.
We knit and had board game parties. One day in our early dating life, we were playing Monopoly. When we thought he’d lost, he produced a large wad of money he’d hidden under his leg.
